The song features a classic sound that combines elements of soul, hip-hop and neo-soul with amazing piano melodies and catchy lyrics. It’s impossible not to sing along when listening to this track, I tried but I could not resist it.

“If It Lasts” builds on Joe Kenney’s original work by preserving and enhancing the vocal talents of Elle Gyandoh and Murphy Bug while introducing MC Sterling Duns and Martronimous production.
Duns’ emotive storytelling offers passionate insight into the relationship struggles hinted at by the duo of narrators and singers Gyandoh and Bug.
The singing verses are accompanied by an R&B vibe and chord progression, as well as a reharmonization of Beethoven’s theme in the chorus/coda.
The synth drums are played by Adam Sisko, and the bass line and instrumental countermelodies are performed by Carter Fox. Mt. Joy guitarist Sam Cooper (of the band Mt. Joy) plays soulful lead lines, and Kenney adds a lovely orchestral layering of piano, Wurlitzer, and synthesizers.
In addition to his recognition as an award-winning recording artist and pianist from Philadelphia, PA, Joe Kenney has written and performed tracks in genres as diverse as hip-hop, neo-soul, classical, jazz, and new age.
