I recently stumbled upon some great indie-pop songs. My interest peaked, so I did a bit of research and found out that they were all written by independent artists from around the globe.
Isn’t it always the case that the most unexpected artists turn out to be the most popular? Nobody saw The Weekend coming but he’s a marketing sensation, just like Bruno Mars.
Today we’re breaking out 10 indie-pop songs that will surprise you. Why? Because they’re different from your typical pop hits, and who doesn’t love to support their indie artists?
The best part is that all of these songs can be heard on Spotify. If you’re ready to hear some real talent, cheers to new music!

1) AMY CORREA BELL – Anyways
If you’re looking for some new music to add to your playlist, look no further than Amy Correa Bell‘s single “Anywaysy.” The pop song has an 80’s vibe and an easy-listening vibe that will have you tapping your feet and singing along in no time.
The artist is based in the United States, San Fernando Valley, CA, as a result, her music has a mix of electronic and alternative influences. She also has a strong interest in fashion design and photography—which are reflected in her artwork and video production as well.
“My latest single, “Anyways”, was originally produced by production duo Beat Ventriloquists who offered it to me in 2019 when it was first recorded. It was re-recorded in 2021 after Director Valentina Vee approached me to do a music video offered by Adobe in order to collaborate and show their latest products in use. I sent over “Anyways” as a stand alone track that had a cool moody vibe and Adobe loved it”

2) TORI BOLTWOOD – Stay On The Moon
TORI BOLTWOOD‘s Stay On The Moon is a super-euphoric pop song that will surprise you.
It’s a song that brings to mind the cinematic sounds of an indie rock band like The National or Arcade Fire, and it has the same kind of ethereal quality as those bands’ songs—but it’s also got a more electronic sound, thanks to its use of synthesizers.
The lyrics are simple, but they hit home with their romantic message and make you want to hear the song over and over again.
If you’re looking for something new and fresh in your music collection this summer, check out Stay On The Moon by TORI BOLTWOOD! Follow the artist on Spotify to support her.
3) IRYS – Weirdo
Weirdo by IRYS is an interesting song because it combines several genres: electronic pop, synthpop, trip-hop and art-pop to name a few. You can hear the influence of those genres in the use of synthesizers and drums, as well as in Irys’ vocals.
This song has been compared to artists like Grimes, Purity Ring, and Fever Ray—all female artists who have been compared to Björk in their use of electronic sounds and ethereal vocals—but it stands out as unique among them because of its darker tone and edgier lyrics.
In my opinion, this track is perfect for anyone looking for something new that’s super fresh but still familiar enough for them to get into right away! Check it out and don’t forget to follow the artist on Spotify.
4) FORTS – The Chemist
The Chemist is a dreamy tune from FORTS, a Phoenix-based band. The track is an alternative pop song that blends dark pop, electronic and art pop with ethereal – amazing – female vocals.
It’s reminiscent of the dreamy sound of The Cure and New Order but has its own unique vibe that’s perfect for long summer nights.
The song features dreamy vocals from the singer herself as well as some pretty cool synth sounds that give it an otherworldly feel.
The Chemist is one of many great tunes by this indie-pop band. Check out their Spotify page for more!
5) SHARL – Games
Do you have enough mind games and bravado in the dating world? I have the perfect track for you. Bright, hyper pop, bursting with the energy of Nintendo tones. The lyrics to Games speak to your soul whether you are venting about it to friends, chilling out at night playing video games or just bopping along on your own!
SHARL, the electronic pop artist based in Melbourne, Australia, has released a new single called “Games.” This song is a love song with an upbeat, hyper-pop feel. The chorus is catchy and euphoric, and the female vocals are sung in a quirky way that adds to the overall commercial feel of the song.
Ok, it’s about love or relationships, but their songs are so quirky that they almost make you feel like you’re listening to a love song from an alternate universe.
The result? A quirky, hyper-pop tune that will have you dancing around your room in no time!

6) DOC FISCHBACH – Finally Free
The singer-songwriter DOC FISCHBACH is based in Denver, CO. He has released his debut single Finally Free, which has a lot of commercial appeals.
The song is about being free from the shackles of your past and learning to love yourself for who you are. It’s a feel-good song that will make you want to relax and have a reflexive moment!
“I wrote this song the day I finally became free from an abusive and toxic relationship. This song is meant to inspire those who aren’t sure if they can do it on their own. It is a strong message that things will be better. This song has a purpose to help people as it has helped me. “Finally Free” is about self-empowerment and standing up for yourself. You never know who out there could really benefit from hearing this so that is why I put my hard life lessons into music for the world to hear.”
The song is a departure from what you might expect from a pop artist. It’s more like an easy listening ballad with a rock edge than the kind of upbeat tune you’d hear on the radio.
It’s romantic, but it’s catchy and beautifully written, so we think you’ll love it! Follow the artist on Spotify.
7) SON SAVAGE – Superglue
Superglue by SON SAVAGE is one of those songs that’ll have you bopping along to the beat and wondering why you don’t play it more often.
The artist is based in the U.A.E., Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This song is an electronic pop synth tune with a lot of 80’s vibes and a cheerful melody that will get your head bobbing. It’s perfect for those who want to feel good while listening to something that isn’t too heavy on lyrics or vocals (although the vocalist sounds really great).
Son Savage’s latest music video for “Superglue” turns into a video game in his latest song, which peaked at #1 on the Dubai pop charts.
This song is perfect for those who love commercial pop but also want something more experimental. You can listen to it, watch his music video and follow him on Spotify right now!
8) KATIE BELLE – Now That I Know
Katie Belle is a singer-songwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. She’s a pop artist with a flair for dance and electronic music. Her latest single, “Now That I Know” is a perfect example of this—it starts off with an almost classical music beat that builds into an electronic chorus that will have you moving in no time.
Katie Belle is one of those artists who doesn’t just sing about what she knows—she puts herself into her work in a way that makes it feel like she’s singing directly to you. She’s always had an ear for what people want to hear and how they want to feel, which is why I think she can become an influential force in the pop world.
Katie Belle’s music is fun and uplifting, which makes it perfect for any occasion where you want to get your friends dancing or put on some headphones and let your troubles melt away. Follow the artist on Spotify.
9) 22 OCEANS – Home
If you’re looking for a new artist to follow, look no further than 22 OCEANS. They are three musicians with a very good taste in music.
Their single “Home” is an absolute gem of a song that will make you want to settle in for a nice long listen.
The track is dreamy and relaxing, with folktronica undertones and folk-inspired vocals. It’s a wonderful blend of genres that makes for a beautiful combination of sounds.
“Home” was released this year by independent artists based in Liverpool, United Kingdom, so let’s support them. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out their other songs and follow them on Spotify!
10) LEMAN – Over The Moon
LEMAN‘s Over The Moon is one of those albums that sneaks up on you and then just won’t let you go. I simply loved it, this guy has talent!
The album takes listeners on a journey through synth-pop and indie pop, complete with dark-pop moments and rock-style guitar solos, and his vocals transform everything into heavy metal suddenly. Really, you have to listen to it to understand. “Drive”, for example, is a piece of art.
A lot of the songs are heavily influenced by 80’s vibes, which makes sense given that LEMAN is based in Boston, MA.
I love this album because it’s different from anything else I’ve heard the full album recently—it’s got a commercial feel to it while still being edgy enough to be considered alternative. I can say his album makes music colourful, exactly like his appearance, that blue hair makes sure we see these features in his work.
You can check out Over The Moon on Spotify right now! Follow the artist to support his amazing art.
