While pop is the main genre, it encompasses a wide range of genres such as rock-pop, EDM, folk-pop, and so forth.

There is a lot to explore, so, as we are approaching the end of 2022, let’s take a look at some indie pop music released by talented indie artists that you can jam along to in 2023. Music is the perfect way to round off the year, isn’t it?

FOR KING AND COUNTRY releasing Love Me Like I Am Ft. Jordin Sparrks

Take a moment to consider it. As the new year approaches and January is just around the corner, we thought it would be great to round up a few of the best indie pop songs released in December, including these artists’ music in our playlists as a special way to thank them.

We can say more about that. Indie pop music is typically known for its upbeat melodies and catchy tunes. It is often filled with positive energy and sounds great, especially when you want to get in the mood or need some inspiring music for when you’re working or preparing for a party.

In addition to motivating and inspiring, music can also be relaxing. It’s for this reason that we think we could all use a good dose of high-quality indie pop right now. You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.

1) I’VE TRIED SLEEPING – I’ve Tried Sleeping

I’VE TRIED SLEEPING is an alt-rock pop artist from Spokane, Washington, who is releasing his album also entitled I’ve Tried Sleeping. The album contains 10 tracks that range from soft to pop-rock.

The first track, “Flying High Anyway” is a fast-burning song with a catchy chorus that will have you singing along by the end of the song. The song starts off with an 80s vibe and then goes into something more reminiscent of classic rock that you might hear on the radio today.

The other track that grabbed our attention is “Without The Faintest Idea”, which continues this trend and also has a great beat that makes you want to dance around your room while listening to it.

You can explore many different tracks here, but all of them bring back some 80s vibes with their opening notes but quickly turns into something more modern sounding as well.

It also features great male vocals throughout most of the songs which gives it even more depth. Now check it out, visit his website and follow him on Spotify.

2) MOON AND ARIES – Break The Matrix

MOON AND ARIES is a synth-pop opera duo from Germany, Cologne. Their new EPs Break The Matrix (Episodes One and Two) are an 80s-inspired trip-hop masterpiece that will leave you wanting more.

The first EP opens with “Closer And Closer”, an upbeat track with a catchy chorus and some great vocals from both male and female singers.

“Losing Control” is another highlight of the EP; it has an incredible bassline and builds into a euphoric chorus that will have you dancing in your seat. It’s very creative and enjoyable to listen to.

About the second EP of this collection, the track “Code And Circles” has a classic sound that reminds me of European pop culture in the 80’s—it’s upbeat and fun with a groovy beat, but also has a bit of an edge to it that gives it some depth and makes it feel like there’s more going on than just some sensual melodies. There is a story behind it!

If you’re looking for something new to add to your playlist this end of the year, make sure you check out MOON AND ARIES—you won’t regret it! Listen to their portfolio, visit their website and follow them on Spotify.

3) BONZE – (Mercedes)

BONZE is an alternative pop artist from London, United Kingdom. He recently released his single “(Mercedes)” on Spotify and other streaming services, and this one just grabbed our attention.

The single combines ethereal vocals with electronic beats to create a unique sound that is both upbeat and relaxing. BONZE’s music could easily be described as “euphoric,” but there’s also a lot more depth to it than that.

The song starts off with soft piano and synths before building up into a full-on dream-pop track. It’s catchy, it’s got great production value, and it’s got a bit of an edge to it—which makes it perfect for long drives or just chilling out after work.

The lyrics are simple but meaningful. In the song, Mercedes, the girl the song is about, is not mentioned once; even though the song is about spending the rest of your life with her. It is for this reason that her name is in brackets.

If you’re looking for something new EDM-style pop music to listen to this month, check out BONZE’s latest single “Mercedes.” You can find it on streaming services, you can also visit his YouTube and don’t forget to follow him on Spotify!

4) K-SYRAN – Inappropriate

K-SYRAN is an independent artist from Norway, based in Oslo. She has released an album called Inappropriate, which is a 15-track album that includes her own songs.

K-SYRAN’s music can be described as a singer-songwriter with a blues influence and pop elements. Her music is easy to listen to and relaxing, with a classic sound that makes it feel like you’ve been listening to this artist for years.

The album has many R&B elements such as grooves and rhythms, which give the songs a contemporary feel while still sounding like they could have come out of the 60s or 70s.

Some of the songs have rock influences that make them feel more modern than others. There are also some soft rock elements such as acoustic guitars and very smooth drums. It’s just delicious to relax and lose yourself on this beautiful album.

The album starts off strong with “My Angel Tonight”, which has a catchy chorus and rhythm section that will get stuck in your head after only one listen!

It ends with “Look at What You Have”, which is a slower song but still has all the elements that make K-SYRAN’s music romantic, sensual and very easy listening. Now check it out, visit her website and follow her on Spotify.

5) PRESIDENT STREET – Tell Me Brother

If you’re looking for music that’s easy to listen to, but still has a bit of a soulful edge, then check out President Street‘s “Tell Me Brother” single.

The track is an easy-listening pop song with a retro soul feel that will keep you grooving. The vocals are soft and sweet, and the instrumentation is polished and very professional. The lyrics are catchy without being cheesy.

The band is based in Australia and the single features amazing female and male vocals. It was released weeks ago and can be found on Spotify and other streaming services.

If you like this track, then you’ll love the entire President Street’s catalogue, which also has great music that fits well into the genre of “modern and retro-pop”.

So, fans of pop music with a bit of soul and groove, be sure to check out President Street, visit their website and follow them on Spotify!

6) 7000APART – Feel Your Feelings – Side A

With a name like 7000APART, you know this artist is going to be different. And they are: they’re an alt-pop band from Sweden who released an EP this month that’s so catchy and infectious, you’ll be singing along by the end of rhe first verse.

The EP is called Feel Your Feelings – Side A. It’s got six tracks, including “Stand Together” and “Hope”. The rest of the songs are just as great—you’ll find yourself singing them all day long!

What makes this band so special? Well, for starters, the lead singer is female. It’s common, but we don’t hear enough amazing female singers in alt-pop music these days!

She has a voice that’s both warm and powerful at once—it feels like she’s singing directly to you when she belts out her lyrics.

In addition to their lead singer being female, they also hail from Sweden—a country known for its incredible pop artists. Also, they have an indie-rock feel with an alternative pop sound that comes together beautifully in every song on their EP!

If you’re looking for something new to listen to that will get stuck in your head all day long (in a good way), check it out, visit their website and follow them on Spotify.

7) FOR KING + COUNTRY – Love Me Like I Am Ft. Jordin Sparrks

When I heard “Love Me Like I Am” for the first time on Spotify, I was immediately hooked. It’s a catchy tune that’s easy to listen to and sing along with.

The best part? It’s from FOR KING + COUNTRY, a band that is based out of Nashville, Tennessee—a city known for being a hub for music, especially when it comes to pop and country genres.

I’ve always been drawn to artists that can write songs that are both super catchy and emotional at the same time, and “Love Me Like I Am” is a great example of this. These guys are simple amazing!

The song is about wanting someone to treat you like you deserve their love and attention—and it’s a sentiment that resonates with most people I know!

If you’re looking for some new music to check out this week and keep listening to next month (or even next year), give For King + Country’s single “Love Me Like I Am” a listen. You won’t regret it! Check it out, visit their website and follow them on Spotify.

8) FRANK JOSHUA – What Price A Smile

FRANK JOSHUA is a singer-songwriter and dream pop artist based out of London. He has just released his single, “What Price A Smile,” which is a smooth dance track that will have you dancing in your seat.

The song opens with a simple piano riff that quickly builds into an uplifting chorus, punctuated by Frank’s vocals. It’s infectious and delivers a great journey to another dimension.

The sound reminds me of a mix between The 1975 and Beach House – Once Twice Melody style sound—I’d say it’s more of the former than the latter, but with just enough of the latter to give it that edge that makes it stand out from the rest of the pack.

It’s not uncommon for artists to use electronic music as a way to convey emotion, but FRANK JOSHUA takes it one step further by taking this approach and mixing it with elements of classic house music and pop.

This gives his music an interesting edge while still retaining its accessibility. So, we really recommend you, check it out, visit his website and follow him on Spotify.

9) TOYQUEENS – Moments

TOYQUEENS just released his new single, “Moments,” and it’s a wonderful example of why he’s one of the UK’s most exciting indie acts.

The song is an emotional, emo pop-rock anthem that showcases the artist’s ability to write a catchy tune, with a melody that will stay in your head for days.

The lyrics are about the fleeting nature of life and relationships but are delivered in an uplifting way that makes you feel empowered instead of depressed.

It’s a track that shows how far TOYQUEENS has come since his first single in 2021 when he was still finding his sound as an alternative rock act.

Since then he’s grown into an eclectic artist with influences from all over the pop and rock spectrum—and this song is no different. It’s a great commercial pop track with moments of alt-rock and emo elements throughout its runtime. It’s perfect, brings a retro feel, we loved it!

If you’re not familiar with TOYQUEENS yet, check out this song—and then go visit his Facebook and Spotify page to see what else he has going on! Make sure you follow him on Spotify and social networks.

10) MATT DEANGELIS – Change Your Ways

MATT DEANGELIS‘ single Change Your Ways is a melodic, soulful track that combines soft rock with classic rock for a sound that’s both unexpected and exciting.

This song is full of emotion, as it explores themes of change and growth. The lyrics are open-ended and philosophical, but they are also very personal.

The music matches the lyrics perfectly—it’s soft and clean but not sparse, with just enough power behind it to give the song energy without overwhelming its lyrical message.

It feels like something you could listen to on repeat while driving down the highway at night, or during an introspective walk around town. It’s perfect for your playlist!

If this sounds like something you’d be into, I highly recommend checking out MATT DEANGELIS’s other songs as well—his entire discography is available on Spotify right now! Watch his music video, visit his website and follow him on Social networks.
