Square Wave Bounce Turn Leftfield Electronics Inward on Jayne Goes

The Daylesford Duo Build A Single Around Restraint, Painted Artwork and Studio Detail

Jayne Goes is the kind of Avant-Garde Electronic track that rewards attention rather than demanding it. Square Wave Bounce are the Daylesford duo of Ivan Carter and Fe Porter. They built it from intricate rhythm work and a patient sense of space. The result sits at the Leftfield end of electronic music without ever turning difficult.

Square Wave Bounce are worked into the playlist below, and the duo’s artist profile shows what this network has run on the Daylesford pair. Jayne Goes came here through PopHits.Co Music Charts: it verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Play it quietly and stay with the detail.

Square Wave Bounce Build Jayne Goes From Intricate Rhythm And Leftfield Detail

The appeal here is proportion. Plenty of experimental electronic music mistakes density for depth, stacking layers until nothing has room to register. Jayne Goes does the opposite. The rhythm carries the track, and the detail work sits around it rather than on top of it.

That approach is deliberate. Ivan Carter describes the intention as blending intricate textures with compelling rhythms. You can hear the second half of that sentence doing the heavy lifting. The groove is the spine. Everything else decorates.

What makes it Avant-Garde rather than simply electronic is the refusal to resolve on schedule. Sections arrive when they are ready. Consequently the track trusts the listener to stay with it. That is a small act of confidence many releases in this space skip.

TopMusic.News’s curator team: “The smartest thing on Jayne Goes is how much empty space survives the mix. Most leftfield producers fill every gap, because silence feels like a risk. Square Wave Bounce leave the gaps in, and the rhythm hits harder for it.”

Ivan Carter And Fe Porter, A Daylesford Duo Who Make Everything Themselves

Square Wave Bounce operate as a genuine two-person project out of Daylesford in regional Victoria, and the credits show it. The duo wrote, recorded and produced Jayne Goes themselves. They then handed it to Nick Huggins at Resting Bell Studio for the mix and master.

The visual side stays in house as well. Fe Porter painted the artwork that accompanies the release, with art design shared between Porter and Anthony Petrucci. That carries real weight. The record’s look and its sound came out of the same room, instead of being handed to a design brief afterwards.

Working this way is common for regional Australian acts. It tends to produce a specific quality: fewer compromises, slower output, stronger identity. The catalogue reflects that. Jayne Goes has been available since the end of January 2025, with Blue Cloud and Floating following later that year.

It also explains the pacing. A duo handling writing, recording and production cannot turn releases around on a label schedule. Instead, each one arrives when it is finished. For listeners, that means a catalogue with very little filler in it.

For Listeners Who Follow Autechre, Boards Of Canada And Four Tet

This one is for people who listen to electronic music structurally. Take Autechre first. On their records rhythm becomes the subject rather than the foundation. The way Jayne Goes foregrounds its groove reads as familiar thinking.

Then there is Boards of Canada. Their work made warmth and slight decay into a signature rather than an accident. The analogue-leaning character here works in a similar register.

Finally there is Four Tet, who keeps experimental production genuinely danceable. That same balance stops this track drifting into an academic exercise.

Those are stylistic reference points, not claims of association. All three treat restraint as a compositional tool, and so does this.

The common thread across those names is patience. None of them rush a listener toward a payoff, and none of them treat complexity as a substitute for a good idea. Jayne Goes belongs in that conversation on temperament rather than on scale.

Where To Stream Square Wave Bounce And Follow The Duo Online

Jayne Goes is out now, and the best way in is a proper listen with something decent on your ears.

Stream it on Spotify, or buy it from the duo on Bandcamp. The full credits and artwork sit alongside the track there. The rest of the catalogue lives on the Bandcamp page. The Spotify artist page collects the discography in one place.

The YouTube channel carries the streaming catalogue, while the duo post across Instagram and Facebook.

Put it on, leave the room quiet, and let the rhythm do its work.
