Damien is an Australian rapper, producer, and darkwave artist born in Ipswich who breaks away from mainstream norms with poignant, post-punk commentary.
With an ear for lyrical content that is both clever and infectious, Damien’s music fuses electro-rock with elements of pop and industrial. In comparison to Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and Gorillaz, he has received many praises.
“Girl” was Damien’s full-length album released in 2021. It was hailed by Happy Mag for reshaping alternative electronica. After releasing it in 2022, they released another critically acclaimed album, ‘Wrong Aged. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender.’ A record described as an alt-electro rock at its finest by the AU Review and ‘Album of the Week’ by 4ZZZ.
The album has received national and international airplay and appears regularly in local, national and international publications.

Damien is a Brisbane-based dark-wave musician who has just released his second album, Wrong Aged. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender. We had the chance to review this album for our readers, and we were really impressed!
The sound of Wrong Aged. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender is very experimental and eclectic, incorporating elements of post-punk, gothic rock, experimental, industrial rock and pop into Damien’s music. It’s also got an alt-rock vibe as well as some heavy pop influences—we’d call it pop/alt-rock with a dark edge!
Damien’s album is very creative and the lyrics reveal a kind of social protest, the vocals are male with a rocky effect that reminded us of rock stars from the 80s.
The instrumentation varies widely from track to track too: some tracks feature more traditional instruments like keyboards and guitar while others use more unconventional sounds like synthesizers or even samples for soundtrack productions.
There are also some great songs on this album that would make great soundtracks for films or TV shows—we recommend checking out “2 out of 10” and “Dreamer.”
