I’m sure you think you’ve heard it all when it comes to jazz music. You’re wrong. There are a lot of fantastic independent artists out there whose music needs to be heard.
Today I’ve handpicked some of my favourite jazz music pieces from PopHits.Co and here’s why.
With the talent of many jazz independent artists releasing music on the internet every day, how do we experience it all? Many of these independent artists get lost in the vast sea of musicians and their music. This is not a bad thing, but this pushes many musicians away from those who really appreciate the music genre, and its variations and do want to find them.
I’ve recently listened to some jazzy music and was actually shocked that I’d never heard any of these tracks before. All the songs were by talented independent artists from around the world. Thank you, readers, for bringing these amazing pieces to my attention!

The term “Jazz” is a very broad concept that has been practised by musicians from all around the world. Some musicians have pioneered their own unique styles of music by fusing Jazz with non-traditional instruments and musical influences like Max Swan, from Philadelphia, US.
The following are some notes on some memorable pieces of Jazz that you might have come across while browsing the internet. You can also follow our full playlist, or listen to each artist individually by scrolling down the page.

MAX SWAN – Woohoo (Live From The Church)
The single Woohoo (Live From The Church), by Max Swan, is an alternative jazz track that blends the singer’s signature soul vocals with an R&B sound.
The track is filled with smooth, relaxing beats and an upbeat tempo that draws you in and keeps you wanting more. It’s easy to see why this song has become so popular among fans of both traditional jazz and R&B, as it combines elements from both genres without losing its own unique identity.
The release of Swan’s sophomore album marked the triumphant return of the artist to the studio with Slow Jail in October 2021.
While releasing this previous project, the album was met with critical acclaim from the international press and spent time in the top five tracks of the coveted RnB Radar list. Currently, he is a classically trained jazz recording artist but Swan is better known for his dynamic live performances and his contributions to the jazz genre as a whole.
The singer-songwriter is based in Philadelphia and has been creating music for some years, now releasing his EP “Heaven is…Slow Jail (Live from The Church Part 1)”.

His style is reminiscent of classic artists and we notice diversified influences of contemporaneous music but also classic or even like Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole, but with a modern twist.
The single Woohoo – Live is an excellent example of how Max Swan combines his love for both traditional and modern music to create something that feels fresh yet familiar.
Max Swan’s songs are perfect for those times when you want to relax and chill out after a long day at work or school. You can listen to them while doing yoga or meditating, or even driving around town if you’re feeling particularly inspired and “jazzy” that day!

SKY CANYON – Bluesalicious
SKY CANYON is an independent jazz artist based in the United States, Boulder. His instrumental single, Bluesalicious, is a great example of his classic sound—it’s got that lounge feel that’s so popular right now, with a hint of nostalgia and some groove.
It’s the kind of song you want to listen to when you’re chilling out with friends or even just taking a walk by yourself. It’s relaxing for sure!
It’s pretty easy to get lost in this song—you can almost feel yourself falling into a groove as it plays. The tone is jazzy and nostalgic, but the instrumentals are modern—they’re not old-fashioned or outdated at all. They’re just mellow and sleek!
If you’re looking for something mellow, yet still edgy enough to keep your attention throughout the whole track, then this is exactly what you need.

The artist, Sky Canyon, has been a professional musician for 40+ years and is now releasing jazz singles, mostly originals, playing the vibraphone (and other instruments on some of the tunes too). The song Bluesalicious is an original composed by a quartet of A-list musicians in the classic jazz/blues style.
Sky Canyon has worked in music for over 50 years as a composer, producer and artist with roots in jazz, rock and classical music (he was a percussionist in the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra), Latin, and new age music.
As a student of Terry Gibbs and a lover of jazz from a young age, he is inspired by the music he makes today. Sky had a successful career with Watercourse Media producing best-selling albums in the new age genre, but these days he is releasing jazz originals and classic standards.

DIRTY D – Solar Sail
If you’re looking for music that can help you relax, Lofi Jazz is the thing for you. The instrumental album Solar Sail by Dirty D is exactly what you need to chill out after a long day at work or school.
The instrumental EP has 5 tracks and it’s perfect for those of you into easy listening, cinematic, and soundtrack music. The singer is based in San Diego, California and he’s been working on this album since 2021. It was released in March this year, and Dirty D is already preparing more of this golden sound for us.
I can say that this album is a great choice for those who love jazz music with a chillout vibe. It’s also great for those who are looking for something relaxing to listen to while they’re doing work or studying.
Jazz is a genre that has been around for decades, but it’s also one that can seem inaccessible to people who aren’t used to hearing it.

Solar Sail showcases the musician’s ability to create soothing sounds that are perfect for sophisticated background music for special occasions. But even though it’s easy on the ears, there are moments where you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back in time. I just loved it.

With his own unique style and music, Dirty D is a saxophonist who specializes in Hip Hop, Jazz and the Lo-fi scene. His own self-taught saxophone style combined with street-inspired hip hop and lo-fi beats has propelled him to stardom.
There are many forms of chill hop featuring influences from hip hop and jazz and Dirty D is a specialist o that topic. First known as a travel club player, he is now a recording artist and is releasing music at an unprecedented rate.
In this new project called Solar Sail, Dirty D’s brilliant Saxophone work is paired with the groundbreaking basslines of Long Island’s Dubl A. On top of that, you’ll find chill hop tracks from D.A. on da Beat, Club DJ from Miami.
A journey into inner space is the theme of this EP while taking us from earthly stress to inner peace. The first track is titled “Inner Space” and works perfectly for this kind of assignment.

DARIO ACOSTA TEICH – Folklore
Folklore is an intriguing album, with a mixture of jazz, Latin sounds, and folk. The singer, Dario Acosta Teich, has a rich voice and talent for playing his instruments that seem to be able to convey anything from the joys of life to all its sorrows. He’s from Argentina, Tucumán, where he grew up surrounded by traditional folk music, which he has incorporated into his own style of music production.
His song “Encuentro” is a beautiful example of this. With acoustic guitar and piano accompaniment, it’s a warm track that starts off with just a piano and goes softly over the instruments before building up into something much more complex and powerful as the song progresses.

Originally from Argentina’s folk epicentres, Acosta now resides in New York City and makes music that fuses sophisticated jazz with Latin folk forms he was immersed in as a child. We are witnessing the emergence of a new hybrid language of musical expression at the hands of this highly talented musician.
“Music is my first language. It’s easier for me to play than to speak.”
With this month’s release of Folklore, Acosta Teich shows off his unique blend of music languages. The sound is constantly shifting, never straying from the groove, filled with nimble guitar technique (“The Current”) and complex musical concepts tempered with intuition.
In the same way as Acosta Teich’s homeland, Folklore uses improvisation and experimental jazz to reconcile the sounds and longing for his homeland from the Afro-Latin candombe of Rio de la Plata (“Sunset”) to the gaucho chacarera (“La Vuelta de Rosca”) to Andean huayno (“Encuentro”).
Other tracks on the album include “Como Antes” and “Fiest Maka” which is featuring a beautiful saxophone sound, and there is a total of 8 tracks for our complete happiness.
If you’re looking for something new and different in your music collection, then I highly recommend checking out Folklore by Dario Acosta Teich – it’s well worth your time!
