5) ROBBIE RAPIDS – Adolescent Lover
It’s time to update your summer playlist with some different music from an independent artist.
Robbie Rapids—a rock band based in Atlanta—has just released Adolescent Lover, a song that you’ll feel pure nostalgic feelings, and go back to the 90s too.
The 90’s soft rock vibe is paired with the alt-rock vocals of singer/guitarist Robbie Rapids himself, who has been compared to John Frusciante.
The song starts with an instantly recognizable guitar riff that sounds like something you would hear in a ’90s soft rock radio-style song. Then the chorus kicks in and we’re hit with some alt-rock influences, but still with a pop sensibility.
If you haven’t checked out Robbie Rapids yet, you need to get on that, watch his music video and follow the artist on Spotify.

7) ALDÍS FJÓLA – Burn
If you’re looking for a new metal rock song to update your summer playlist, look no further. This single from Aldís Fjóla is the perfect addition.
The band is based in Iceland, Reykjavík. They have been making music for some time, and their experience brought us their newest single Burn, which was released on June 1st this year, is one of the best songs we’ve heard from them yet.
We love this band because of their 90’s rock sound and female vocals that remind us of Evanescence (in a good way). Their latest single has a bit of a nostalgic feel to it; it reminds us of when we first started listening to alternative rock bands like Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana.
This song would be perfect for anyone who loves those bands or any other similar ones like Alice In Chains or Stone Temple Pilots. If you’re looking for a new band to listen to this summer while cruising around town with friends or just relaxing at home after work then be sure to check out Aldís Fjóla right now and follow them on Spotify!

Their style is a mix of alt-rock, pop-rock and dream pop—it’s guitar-driven but also washed-out and shoegaze-y. It’s dreamy but also punchy, with a little bit of post-punk thrown in for good measure.
The vocals are delivered by a male singer who sings about love and loss over the top of the guitar-driven instrumentals. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to put on your headphones at night and watch the stars from your bedroom window while thinking about how much this one particular person means to you.
