New Release From The Primary Phase Principle Explores Electronic Soundscapes

The album’s release date was February 25, 2025, and shows the artist’s skill to mix dark tones with distant sounds to create a post-apocalyptic feel. A player below lets you hear this release as you read about the album’s details.
Collapse Of The Sightless Age is the second concept album from The Primary Phase Principle after Echoes Of The Mechatronic Age. St-Onge, from Winnipeg, Canada, created this album with inspiration from key works. The sound quality reflects Nine Inch Nails‘ Hesitation Marks, along with the dark atmosphere of How To Destroy Angels‘ Welcome Oblivion. Our playlist features more selections from the experimental electronic genre.

The Album’s Dystopian Story Concept
Collapse Of The Sightless Age takes inspiration from E.M. Forster’s 1909 short story “The Machine Stops“. This story about humans who depend on an automated machine shapes both this album and its prequel, Echoes Of The Mechatronic Age.
The Primary Phase Principle adds to Forster’s idea with details about such a future. St-Onge uses his engineering knowledge to craft precise sounds next to a detailed story.
“The Primary Phase Principle makes sounds that pull listeners into a haunting space. The music sets new standards in experimental electronic music and are more than perfect film scores,” notes PopHits.Co‘s music team.
Jamie Sitar of Outta Town Sound mastered the album to highlight St-Onge’s work. Kathy Schermack created the cover art, as well as a digital booklet with AI-generated images from Stable Diffusion XL 1.0. These elements combine to make COTSA a complete artistic collaboration achievement.

A Systems Engineer by trade, St-Onge returned to music after 12 years. He adds technical skill to artistic vision in The Primary Phase Principle’s music, expanding electronic music limits. His return shows in each note, as well as the album’s depth.
St-Onge’s new five-song record explores the link between technology plus human existence in an interesting manner. Taking cues from well-known bands such as Nine Inch Nails, the dreamy sounds of How To Destroy Angels and the grand film scores of Hans Zimmer, St-Onge builds a sound that is uniquely his own.
This special combination creates a sound environment that feels both familiar and strikingly new offering a deep plus absorbing experience for people who like unusual electronic music.

The record examines deeply how technology greatly affects society, especially now during a time of rapid technological change. Pieces like “Corruption Of The Order” and “Purpose Of The Machine” are like musical reflections on the almost worshipful respect given to new technologies.
These musical works ask people to consider the shifting connection between humans and machines encouraging thought on the possible results if technology grows without control plus its effect on being human through the Singularity era.
